Facilitating Excellence
The Textiles Export Facilitation Centre (TEFC) is an initiative of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, established through the Textiles Committee to strengthen India's textile export ecosystem by improving the export preparedness and competitiveness of existing and emerging exporters. The Textiles Committee is a statutory body under the Ministry of Textiles, established under the Textiles Committee Act, 1963, with a mandate that includes promoting textile exports, quality assurance, research, training and sectoral support. In February 2026, the Textiles Committee announced the establishment of TEFCs on a pilot basis at six major textile clusters - Karur, Surat, Ichalkaranji, Jaipur, Varanasi and Ludhian, covering their respective textile specialisations. The TEFCs are intended to function as facilitation centres connecting textile manufacturers and exporters with relevant information, guidance and Government support for international market access. The key functions of TEFC include training and capacity building, HS classification facilitation, assistance in developing export roadmaps, information on export/import tariffs, awareness regarding Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), guidance on technical and non-technical regulatory requirements and country-specific compliances, dissemination of Government schemes, promotion of best practices and identification of new export markets. Through this cluster-based approach, TEFC seeks to bring export-related knowledge and facilitation closer to textile enterprises at the manufacturing-cluster level, enabling them to better understand international market requirements, improve export readiness, diversify markets and enhance India's global textile competitiveness. The initiative complements the wider export-promotion and quality-assurance responsibilities of the Textiles Committee and supports the Government's objective of expanding India's presence in global textile and apparel markets.
